What 2,600 games of online Bananagrams look like

People have been racing tiles on Nanagrams since December 2025. We pulled the numbers from every game played so far, not a survey, just what actually happened on the board. Here is what 2,620 games of online Bananagrams looks like.

Most people play alone, and fast

Of the 2,620 games so far, 2,028 were solo and 592 were multiplayer. That surprised us a little. Bananagrams has a reputation as a party game, but the bulk of online play is one person warming up against the clock. The classic 144-tile set and the quick 36-tile sprint are the two most popular game sizes by a wide margin, so most people either want a full round or two spare minutes and not much in between.

An average round is about 19 words

Across finished games, players build around 19 words per round and dump only a few tiles back, so most letters get used rather than swapped. Add it all up and people have placed close to 29,938 valid words on Nanagrams boards.

The longest words people have actually played

Most winning grids are full of short, dense words, the two- and three-letter glue that connects everything. But every so often someone lands a monster. The longest single word anyone has played here is INFANTILIZATION at 15 letters. A few more from the top of the list:

The Q and Z problem

The tiles that trip people up are the usual suspects: Q, Z, X, and J. The most common high-value plays tell the story. QI is the two-letter lifesaver every Bananagrams regular learns, alongside ZIT, AX, and the whole QUEEN, QUEST, QUIET, QUESTION family for getting rid of a Q with a U attached.
